Apr 25-26 Appalachian Geological Society,
Workshop & Fieldtrip
Morgantown, WV

Tired of all the shale talk and itching to get back to something a little more conventional (and I mean conventional in the loosest sense of the word)?

Longing for the good ol' days when you looked for gas in sandstone (but not porous sandstone)?
Well mark your calendars and get ready for some Oriskany fun from April 25th to 26th!

The AGS is offering a field trip led by the basin-renowned geologist, Kathy Bruner, on the Oriskany Sandstone. It begins with a lecture and core workshop in lovely Morgantown, WV the morning of April 25th. You'll get to see core spanning the area between Rockingham, VA and Eastern Kentucky.

But wait, there's more!!! RSVP now (or later) and you also have the option to drive to Franklin, WV (3 to 3 1/2 hours) and check into the lovely Star Hotel (http://thestarhotelrestaurant.com/) and enjoy the lovely views of the Eastern Overthrust. From there we will hit some local outcrops before we hit the local restaurant for dinner.

Saturday, April 26th, we'll continue the outcrop extravaganza by heading north, eventually ending up at Hanging Rock - with extraordinary views of the Potomac and conglomerates!! Can you ask for anything more? The adventure ends sometime between 3 and 4 PM.

We are offering three options: core workshop and lecture only, field trip only, or full package. Prices are TBD.

And, as a special bonus, you'll get a field trip guide AND a CD with the lecture on it! Please mark you calendars and keep an eye out for an official itinerary, coming soon!

Fine Print:
We reserve the right to change outcrops and the hotel, pending availability. Shipping and handling rates do not apply (i.e. AGS will not be providing transportation, so look to carpool, and the cost of the hotel is the responsibility of the attendees).
